8th June - All Workday earnings should have been returned to school. Some senior classes are setting a poor example for our junior classes.
No one gets anything for free.
That is something that we want our students to recognise about life. If
you want something, you have to be prepared to work for it. In the current
financial climate, public spending is one area in which the government
feels they can try and address our country’s burgeoning deficit.
Therefore in order to provide a quality service that will best serve our
students for their future, we must look to ourselves for solutions. Hence
we have Workday.
Students will provide their time in the form of a school day and work for
whoever is willing to pay them. The money raised is then collected and put
under the control of the Student Council, who receive submissions from
staff and students alike as to how they would like the money spent. These
recommendations are submitted to the Board for final approval, based on
how the purchases will best benefit the greatest numbers of the College
community.
Work Day this year is on 7 May. Students will have this school day to work
for payment which will be collected the following day, during form time.
If a student does not find paid employment they are expected to be at
school for normal instruction.
Please encourage your students to start contacting people now so they have
organised employment for this day. If you have work for some students or
know of someone in the community who would like hard working students for
a day, please get them to email
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

details and those of the job(s) they would like done.
Further information will be available on the website and your students in
the next couple of weeks.
Many thanks for supporting our goal of making Ellesmere students
productive young people of the future and the College a well resourced
institution in which its members, and the wider community, can be proud. |
