How to Apply

This article outlines how International Students can Apply to Attend Ellesmere College and How they can Obtain a Student Visa.

Any further enquiries should be directed to the International Student Dean.

STEP ONE

Send for an official Ellesmere College International Student Application for Enrolment Form and the latest edition of this College’s Prospectus and promotional material.

The College will supply any new information that may have been introduced.

 

STEP TWO

    1. Complete the Application for Enrolment  form  ensuring that all documentation that is requested is supplied.
    2. Attach a recent photograph to the front of the  Application for Enrolment form.
    3. Ensure that all signatures have been completed.

 

STEP THREE

If your application is successful Ellesmere College will send you an Offer of Place and a Tuition Contract form.  It indicates that the College is working on finding a Homestay .

An invoice for: 

    1. Registration costs
    2. The first year’s tuition
    3. A minimum of one term’s Homestay fee
    4. A Guardianship fee (if applicable)

will accompany the Offer of Place

    1. Keep the Offer of Place for Step 6.
    2. If your application is unsuccessful you will be notified.

 

STEP FOUR

    1. Accept the Offer of Place in writing and send the signed Tuition Contract back.
    2. The Invoice must be paid by 31 October of the year prior to your entering this College.
    3. Our Receipt is needed for Step 6

STEP FIVE

    1. Arrange your health and travel insurance cover, and any other insurances you may choose to have before you leave your home country.  See Health and Travel Insurance in this Booklet.
    2. Bring proof of your having this Insurance to Ellesmere College.

 

STEP SIX

To make an application for a Student Visa or Permit to study you will need to supply:

    1. Completed and signed “Application to Study in New Zealand” form
    2. Application fee is paid in the form of Cash, Bank cheque, Money Order, Credit Card, Personal cheque and EFTPOS (Bank cheques and Personal cheques must be made payable to NZ Immigration Service Central)
    3. Your current passport
    4. One recent passport photograph
    5. Evidence of your financial support while in NZ (details available in Guide for Studying in New Zealand).
    6. Evidence that you have paid or are exempt from paying course fees e.g. Receipt for fees for course, a fees scholarship letter, or other evidence of exemption from fees (e.g. letter from MFAT).
    7. Evidence of a guarantee of accommodation.
    8. An “Offer of Place” at a New Zealand education or training institute.
    9. A letter from the provider of the programme outlining details of the programme (scholarship/exchange/vocational students).
    10. Any other documents or information requested by a Visa/Immigration Officer.


For people applying to study for more than two years

    1. If your course of study will bring your total time in New Zealand to more than 2 years   a completed NZIS Medical and X-ray Certificate Form is required.


If aged over 17

    1. A police certificate from your country of citizenship and from any country in which   you have lived for 5 years or more since attaining the age of 17 years.
    2. When your student permit is granted, you will also be issued with a student visa, valid for Multiple Journeys.  This will allow you to leave New Zealand and return as a student during its validity.
    3. Holders of student permits are not permitted to work.  If you are found working you are liable to have your permit revoked.
